As Central Library’s first Writer-in-Residence, Catherine Morris set up a project supported by the Arts Council to undertake interviews with people whose voices and stories are vital to the city’s re-imagining of itself. During her residency, she created a new art-form of collective life-writing and urban photo-montage that is a personal and public memoir of Liverpool. This hybrid form of inclusive (auto) biography montages life-writing with photos and recordings made on location at resonant sites across Liverpool; exploring how a personal sense of belonging is a collective experience saturated in the history and public culture of the city.
